Cause Marketing: Partnering For People & Promises
March 11, 2010 by Nicole Lee
On March 10, I had the opportunity to volunteer for the 12th Annual Cause Conference hosted by San Diego’s chapter of the American Marketing Association. The conference consisted of over 20 speakers, including both keynote and breakout sessions. With about 200 attendees, the AMA Cause Conference is the largest cause partnership conference on the West Coast.
The Cause Conference is all about cause marketing. The central idea of cause marketing is “a marketing partnership between a business and nonprofit entity for mutual benefit” (Causemarketingforum.com). Because of this, the conference attendees included a range of professionals from agencies, non-profits and for-profit businesses.
I am always eager to volunteer for any conference that comes my way (such as the PRSSA National Conference and the San Diego Social Media Symposium). Conferences are a great source of information as well as an opportunity to network. This conference was no exception, as I left with pages of notes and lists of Web sites to check out.
If you are interest in cause marketing I encourage you to visit http://sdama.org/conference.htm for more information, including a list of speakers and panel discussion recaps at the conference.
